Integrated Maintenance Planning. (IMAPLA)

The exchange program aims to facilitate deployment of a collaborative scheme focused on the exchange of the knowledge required to develop methods, models, ICT tools for Integrated Maintenance Planning. The knowledge is provided complementary by the members of the project consortium. The contributions have been drawn out in accordance to a joint research vision, commonly shared by the partners at the moment of writing the proposal. The project will concern the exchange activities of PhD students, researchers and professors. The exchanges will enable the reciprocal transfer of knowledge between the members of the consortium and will be deployed as a set of distinct activities (integrated exchange programs, training in laboratories, lecture exchange program, workshops / seminars open also to external stakeholders).

- Create an exchange program - Training in laboratories - Lecture exchange program - Workshops and seminars - Production of joint publications - Presentations in the context of research and industrial networks/associations - Integration of lecture programs - Technical workshops and scientific seminars
The project is structured as a multilayer and multi-annual program for the exchange of staff between the partners. Staff exchange between European partners is planned, even if it is not eligible to the IRSERS call, as well as the staff exchange from Chile to Europe. It is worth mentioning that exchange experiences already exist among the involved partners and they have already provided relevant scientific results, like common publications and research activities demonstrate. This iMaPla exchange program will ever boost these exchange experiences between the partners. Each partner is essential to the project network. All the involved partners have relevant connections and many cooperation experiences had been already realized. As one of the most recent and important actions, the EU partners have contributed to the establishment of the international Special Interest Group on Maintenance (A-MEST) in the IFAC framework and expected to be active among two important scientific federations of the maintenance field (IFAC itself and IFIP). POLIMI, leading this iMaPla program, have already conducted many exchange experiences with the other partners; for example with CRAN, where POLIMI (DIG) had some PhD students in co-tutorship, and Italian researchers have already spent some weeks in Nancy within the last 5 years; (ii) with the University of Valparaiso, POLIMI (DIG) have defined common training programs in maintenance and Italian professors are involved in the MAM master in Chile, while Chilean professors teach courses in Italy; (iii) with SEVILLE, POLIMI (DIG) has a consolidate student exchange experience (as the Erasmus program). Similarly, CRAN have common activities with University of SEVILLE and so on. In such a context of real and fruitful collaboration, iMaPla project will provide an effective support for consolidating the partners’ network and improve research in maintenance at European and Trans-European level. IMaPla program will provide training modules and learning experiences for PhD students and young researchers. Professors of the partner institutions will be able to spend research periods in centers of maintenance excellence. A total of 3 workshops and 3 seminars will be organized among the four centers, involving researchers from outside the project consortium and also industrial practitioners. All the partners and external stakeholders of the exchange program will benefit from the project. The entire maintenance research field will also benefit from the exchange program: maintenance knowledge is expected to increase, as well as the exchange experiences are expected to provide a number of positive human and social impacts on the involved students and researchers. Italian, French and Spanish partners will be able to collaborate with the University of Valparaiso and among themselves extending their knowledge in maintenance and related areas. Chilean researchers will be able to extend their research network outside America sharing their excellences with European partners. Chilean students and scientists will be able to have their research experiences in Europe, if the project will support their travels.
